RAEFORD, N.C. (AP) — Three suspects have been arrested in the death of a 26-year-old North Carolina man killed when robbers opened fire on a pickup truck.

Hoke County officials tell media outlets Laroyce McLean, Sherron Leach and James Quick were charged Sunday night with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder. It wasn’t known if they had attorneys.

Sheriff Hubert Peterkin says the victims and two robbers had been at a house party. The shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m. at the corner of Shannon Road and Old Wire Road Sunday after the robbers followed them and approached them at a stop sign.

The sheriff said 26-year-old Richard Locklear of Hoke County was shot to death. Locklear’s 2-year-old son was with him but not hurt. Another man in the truck was wounded but expected to survive. A woman was hurt by shattered glass.
