A new N.C. 73 bridge on the Moore – Montgomery county border will soon be replacing the existing 91-year-old bridge.

Dellinger, Inc. of Monroe was awarded a $1 million contract to construct the new bridge that will meet today’s traffic demands while having lower maintenance cost.

The original bridge was built in 1926 and is still considered safe; however, it has become structurally deficient.

Dellinger, Inc will start construction after Thanksgiving and has a five-month deadline.

Drivers will be rerouted onto Jackson Springs, Belford Church, and Windblow roads.
