A  family home in the Berkley section of Aberdeen was damaged due to a fire late Easter afternoon. The house was located just behind Aberdeen Primary School in the 100 block of Debnan Street.  

Fire Departments from Aberdeen, Pinebluff, Southern Pines, and Pinehurst responded to the blaze. There was smoke showing from the residence when the first fire unit arrived on the scene. Firefighters quickly attacked the fire and had it under control and knocked down sparing the rest of the house.

The fire originated in a bedroom. Fire personnel remained on the scene ensuring the fire was completely out and removing debris from the residence.

No one was injured from the fire, and The Red Cross was contacted to provide aid to the family as well as temporary lodging. Debnan Street from the corner of Harris Street was completely shut down as emergency crews worked.

The cause of the fire was yet to be determined. Moore County EMS and Aberdeen Police Department also responded to the scene.
