The Humane Society of the United States-North Carolina is urging people to bang on their car hood before starting their vehicles.

“Winter weather has arrived in much of North Carolina, said The Humane Society on Sunday. “Stray and feral cats will often crawl inside your vehicle and get  close to the engine to seek out warmth.”

By banging on your hood before you start your car will give cats and kittens a chance to get out safely.
