Authorities were dispatched after 2:00 am Saturday morning to a vehicle that had struck a tree blocking the roadway. The single car accident occurred on East New England Avenue near the intersection with South Grape Street in Pinebluff. When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, they found a large tree in the roadway and a car with front end damage with no one around the vehicle. Authorities did an initial search of the area for the driver, but they were unable to locate anyone. A gentleman did arrive on the scene and stated he was the owner of the vehicle. He reported the vehicle was in his yard that night when he went to bed. The NC State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. The Pinebluff Fire Department and Aberdeen Fire Department remained on the scene using chain saws to cut up the large tree and clear the roadway.
