Authorities were dispatched to a wreck outside of Vass Saturday evening just before 8:00 pm with a report the wreck was a result of drag racing on Highway 690.
When authorities arrived, they found what they believe to be a late model Mustang totaled at the scene and believe the driver got into the other car it was racing and left the scene.

It was reported that a man later walked up to the accident scene and told the troopers that it was his car and a relative called informing him his car had been involved in a wreck.
Responding agencies were Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue and North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
