A multi-agency operation has yielded the arrest of a Southern Pines man Wednesday.

Avery Brooks Hockaday, 30, from a West Michigan Avenue address, was arrested on drug charges after Moore County Sheriff’s Department and the Southern Pines Police Department executed a search warrant and seized 937 grams of marijuana, two firearms, marijuana drug paraphernalia and $2,677 in cash, according to a news release from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Hockaday was placed in the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond.

Hockaday was charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the storage of a controlled-substance, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen firearm and the possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia.

The news release stated the total street value of the seized drugs is approximately $7,000.

The suspect has a June 12th court date and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
