A Moore County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested for assault on Thursday. He was immediately fired upon his arrest.

Moore County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home off of Mount Carmel Road in Carthage.  Upon an investigation, Tevin Martinez Caddell was charged with assault on a female, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Caddell was taken to the Moore County Detention Center.

Sheriff Godfrey made a statement regarding the arrest of the former deputy.

“I am disappointed every time a sad event like this occurs and disappointed that it involved one of our own,” said Sheriff Neil Godfrey. “None of us, whether in uniform or not, are above the law, and Caddell will be treated like any other defendant.”

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
