A driver escaped serious injury after running off the road and striking several trees on Midland Road in Southern Pines Sunday evening.
At approximately 7:55 pm, a Ford truck lost control at the curve near the United Methodist Church and ran off the left side of the road into the median hitting several trees and ripping off the driver’s side tire. The driver was charged driving while impaired.
The driver’s side tire was found 20 feet from the pick-up truck
When emergency crews arrived at the accident scene, the male driver was out of the vehicle. The driver was not transported to the hospital. The truck suffered extensive damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Both inside lanes were shut down while emergency crews worked to clear debris from the accident.
Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Southern Pines Police Department.
