A driver escaped serious injury after a single vehicle accident Saturday morning. Emergency crews were paged at 11:53 am to a traffic accident in the area of 336 Esther Road at the curve.

When officials arrived on scene, they found the driver of  the vehicle lying beside the roadway. The Buick sedan was off the roadway and down an embankment in the woods. The driver had climbed out of the car and up to the top of the embankment. The male driver was transported to Firsthealth Moore Regional with non-life threatening injures.

Both lanes of Esther Road were shut down to traffic while emergency crews worked.  The NC Highway Patrol arrived on the scene and is investigating the cause of the accident.

Responding to the scene were Eastwood Fire & Rescue, Pinehurst Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS,  and the Highway Patrol.
