Moore County Schools released a drone video and still photos showcasing the progress of the New Area 1 Elementary School on social media Friday.

The school is being built to relieve overcrowding at Vass-Lakeview and Sandhills Farm Life Elementary Schools.  According to Moore County Schools, the building will be 113,772 sq. ft and hold up to 800 students from kindergarten through 5th grade.

The classroom wings in the school will have plenty of windows to allow natural light in each classroom. Moore County Schools said, “This daylight design will save energy and has been proven to promote student success and reduce absenteeism.”

The school will also be set up to “provide opportunists for self-guided learning and team-teaching strategies.”

The school’s construction is scheduled to be completed by May of next year with students starting in August for the 2019-2020 school year.
