Sexual exploitation, forced labor, pornography creation – human trafficking comes in many forms. This international crime industry, second only to illegal drugs and arms trafficking, sees 600,000 to 800,000 people trafficked across international borders each year. Females make up 80% of these, children half. Many are runaway girls who were sexually abused as children.

Would you recognize a trafficked person if they were sitting next to you? What could you do to help if you found out someone you know was being trafficked? How does a victim seek assistance?

On Thursday, April 11 at 1 pm, an FBI agent will be discussing this and other matters related to human trafficking. The public is invited to this free seminar to be held at Sandhills Community College in 102 Van Dusen Hall. Pre-registration is not necessary.
