It was six years ago today that Deputy Sheriff Rick Rhyne was killed in the line of duty.

Moore County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media that they are remembering Deputy Rhyne and he is missed.

Deputy Sheriff Rick Rhyne was shot and killed after responding to a report of trespassing at a home.

While questioning a man at the scene, Rhyne learned he had a warrant for outstanding child support.  The man fatally shot Deputy Rhyne as he was attempting to place him under arrest. The suspect then committed suicide.

The Rick Rhyne Public Safety Center in Carthage was named in honor of Deputy Rhyne and his service to the citizens of Moore County in 2013.
