Marc Tiegel of Concord, former first responder, and educator, declared his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives (NC-08).

Tiegel, a man who believes that courage, competence and commitment are fundamental principles that should govern the lives of every public servant, says he is ready to fight for the families of his community.

“I am excited and honored to announce my run to represent the great people of the 8th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. It is time to put our people before our politics,” Tiegel said. “It is time to do what’s right, rather that what is politically expedient. Our community deserves to be represented by leaders that won’t rest until the job is done. As a former first responder, you learn that no matter how tough it is, no matter how tired you are, you can’t quit, because lives are depending on you. I see public service the very same way. I owe this community my all!”

Tiegel’s primary role as a member of Congress will be to bring jobs and higher pay to the 8th District providing economic relief for our hard working and middle-class families. He is committed to improving our educational system, supporting the military and our veterans, securing access to affordable healthcare, and championing civil rights.

“I refuse to standby while our government continues to attack the rights and dignity of so many Americans,” Tiegel said. “I will use my platform to address the unique needs of communities unfairly facing the brunt of existing policy designed to minimize their access to the same opportunities many of us have benefited from.”

In addition to having served as a firefighter and medic, Tiegel has experience in education as a former history teacher. He understands that the educational system is failing the people of North Carolina. Increasing deductions so teachers can keep more of their pay will be one of Marc’s top priorities.

“I refuse to accept that our elected officials in Washington, D.C. are doing the best job they can, right now. We owe it to ourselves, our children and our children’s children to set aside partisan politics and get back to the business of taking care of all Americans,” Tiegel added. “While no responsible leader can ever promise perfection, every one of us should be committed to making your everyday life BETTER! I look forward to fighting for the citizens of North Carolina.”
