The following report was released by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

During the month of July our Patrol Deputies averaged twelve minutes and fourteen seconds while responding to 3,188 calls for service. They served 333 civil and 143 criminal papers which included 15 domestic violence orders; made 79 arrests, conducted 673 business checks and transported seven mental patients. Deputies issued 155 traffic citations: 17 citations for driving with a revoked license and 60 for speeding in excess of 15 miles per hour over the posted speed limit and one for driving while impaired. Our Volunteers contributed 284 hours during the month of July.

Sheriff’s Response Team conducted a total of 21 traffic stops, four checking stations and two saturation events resulting in 32 citations, five misdemeanor and two felony drug charges. They conducted 128 sex offender checks, executed two search warrants and assisted in two Governor’s Highway Safety Program saturation events and DWI checkpoints which included the B.A.T (Breath-Alcohol Testing) mobile.

Animal Services admitted 38 dogs and 86 cats, returned 19 dogs and two cats to their owners, facilitated the adoption of 72 dogs and 55 cats, conducted 59 field and 82 shelter rabies vaccinations and conducted two adoption events. Deputies investigated 20 animal bite reports and responded to 93 stray-animal calls.

Detectives arrested 23 suspects totaling 41 felony and seven misdemeanor charges, opened 87 investigations and recovered $96,825.00 in stolen property. Arrests included: one for Rape, one for Sexual-Battery, two for Child Abuse/Neglect, nine for Breaking and/or Entering/Larceny, eight for Fraud and one for Assault.

The Narcotics Division opened 39 investigations and arrested 25 suspects on a total of 86 drug and alcohol violations; nine suspects were arrested for doctor shopping/prescription fraud. Narcotic Deputies seized: 509 grams of marijuana, 155 dosage units of prescription pills, four grams of cocaine, five dosage units of crack-cocaine, 11 grams of methamphetamine, one bundle of heroin, three firearms and $157,410 in US currency; the estimated street value of all drugs seized was approximately $33,780.00. Additionally, Deputies conducted 10 underage compliance checks, 66 ABC store security checks, five ABC premise-outlets inspected and visited 91 additional ABC premise-outlets.

The Sheriff’s Office registered one new Sex offender, updated the status of 16 offenders and is monitoring a total of 115 Moore County registered sex offenders.

In July, we issued 192 pistol purchase permits, 50 new conceal-to-carry permits and renewed 72; totaling 7,592 Moore County citizens with conceal-to-carry permits.
