Southern Pines’ Annual ChristmasTree Lighting was held Saturday evening. The event was hosted by the Southern Pines Business Guild, and they did a wonderful job.

A very large turnout awaited Santa as he arrived on the Southern Pines Fire Truck to much fanfare. Scores of children and families lined up for a chance to meet Santa and have pictures taken with him.

The emcee for the event was Patrick Kelly with Star 102.5. He began by kicking off the musical portion of the evening with everyone’s favorite, the Golf Capital Chorus.

Then the crowd was serenaded by Megan Huff, Miss Moore County, and Calli McIntyre, Miss Moore County Outstanding Teen. They were later joined by Nik Epstein, from Taylor Dance, as they sang Christmas carols while a number of children from the crowd joined in to dance along.

There were a number of other wonderful performances that culminated with the lighting of the Christmas tree. Kudos to the Southern Pines Business Guild for a job well done.
