Albert John Haebe, 87, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Manor Care in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Mr. Haebe was born March 12, 1930 in Garden City, Long Island, NY to the late Eleanor O’Leary and Alfred Haebe.  Mr. Haebe, who was known as “Big Al” to all of his friends and family, proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War where he was wounded in combat, and awarded the Purple Heart.  Mr. Haebe married the love of his life Irene Thorvaldson, and together they had two sons.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and his late wife.  He is survived by his sons, Craig Haebe and wife Cathy Farley Haebe of Jackson, New Jersey, son Mark Haebe of West End and fiancée Sherry Cameron, grandson Craig Haebe and girlfriend Saskia Buggenhout of Orlando, Florida, and granddaughter Cathy Haebe of Oakland, California. 

The family will receive friends Monday, March 12, from 5-7pm at Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst.  Interment will be at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY at a later date.
