Charles Henry Peterson (Charlie) died on January 24, 2018, after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was born in Philadelphia on November 20, 1937 to Charles (Pete) Peterson and Mary Agnes Peterson (Sembello). He is survived by his wife, Nancy Stacer Peterson, of Seven Lakes, NC.

He is also survived by a sister, Barbara Hall (William Hall) of Purcellville, VA.

Additional survivors include son Charles Michael (Chuck) Peterson (Maggie Peterson) and their son, Charles Jacob (CJ) of Winchester. VA, as well as grandsons Langley and Berkley Peterson. He was predeceased by son Scott Peterson, (Marilee Peterson), of Chesapeake, VA.

Also surviving is his first wife and mother to Chuck and Scott, Eleanor Wester.

He was predeceased by wife Joanne Basen Peterson, but survived by her children, Michael Rogers (Angie Rogers) and their daughter Ashley, of Chicago, IL and Kiawah Island, SC; and Sheri Rogers and her children, Laura Fuller and Kristen Hess, of Seattle, WA.

Additional survivors include the children and grandchildren of wife Nancy Peterson, George Sabo and Andrew Jacob Sabo of Royersford, PA; Vivian Sabo –Tyner of Phoenix AZ and Tyrelle Sabo and Nicholas Sabo of Pittsburgh, PA; and Julie Grum (John Paul) and son Jacob of New Kensington PA.

Charlie earned a BA of Political Science/ Speech/Economics from the University of Maryland, where he served as president of Sigma Nu Fraternity and Newman Club. He earned his master’s degree in Business and Finance from Indiana University. He started his career with International Harvester Corporation, ending as Manager, Product Planning, World Operations. After retiring from IHC he was president of Bee Line Co. of Bettendorf, IA., and Hoffco /Comet Industries of Richmond, IN.

Retired and relocated to Seven Lakes, he consulted for companies including Electrolux and became a sales representative for Phillip Hagenbach of Peoria, IL. His final position was in radio sales for station 103.1FM in Robbins, NC.

Charlie and Nancy loved to travel in their RV, visiting all 50 states in fifteen years. Foreign travel, via cruises, took them to 27 countries. Charlie’s bucket list was completed in 2015 with a three-week trip to China.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Feb. 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Foundation of First Health, 150 Applecross Rd, Pinehurst, NC 28374. Or Seven Lakes Fire Rescue, P.O. Box 588, West End, NC 27376.
