Alberta Sarver Janosky, 93, formerly of Seven Lakes, died on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at LifePath Hospice, Sun City Center, Florida.
A Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, October 27th at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Pinehurst. Burial will follow at Seven Lakes Cemetery.
Born on December 16, 1924 in Allegheny County, PA to the late Henry A. Sarver and Rachel Vogeley Sarver, she graduated from Har-Brack High School in Natrona Heights, PA. After graduation she worked as a lab assistant at the Alcoa Research Lab in New Kensington, PA. In 1947, Alberta married Francis Robert Janosky. For the next forty years, while raising their family of 3 children, they moved from Pittsburgh, PA to Buffalo, NY to Rochester, NY. After the kids grew up Alberta resumed her work career as a teller at Fairport Savings & Loan in Fairport, NY. In 1988, after advancing to the position of Vice President of the bank, Alberta and her husband retired to Seven Lakes, NC. She was an active golfer, bowler, and gardener. She was an outstanding cook, baking all the family’s bread in addition to canning and freezing vegetables from their garden and baking outstanding sweets such as “sticky rolls”, strawberry glazed pie and peach cobbler. She made beautiful quilts and baskets as well.
She is survived by her son, Thomas A. Janosky and his wife, Catherine, of Little Rock, AR; her daughter, Judith A. Songer and her husband, Dale, of Windsor, VA; five grandchildren, Zachary T. Janosky, and his wife, Rachel, of Little Rock, AR; Therese M. Janosky of Little Rock, AR; Leigh Ann Songer of St. Petersburg, FL; Daniel L. Songer and his wife, Megan, of Portsmouth, VA; and Timothy J. Songer of Lynchburg, VA; and five great grandchildren, Ava, Caitlyn, and Hayden Janosky of Little Rock, AR and Finley and Cole Songer of St. Petersburg, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Francis R. Janosky and her son, Joel F. Janosky of Apollo Beach, FL, who passed away August 13, 2018.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in memory of Mrs. Janosky to LifePath Hospice, Development Dept., 12470 Telecom Dr., Suite 300, Temple Terrace, FL 33637.
