Bynum E. (Bill) Vickory Jr., age 84, of Pinehurst, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at First Health Hospice House in Pinehurst.

Bill was born in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Bynum E. Vickory, Sr. and Alfreda Yerkivitz Vickory on April 27, 1934.  He spent many years of his childhood in Ramseur, NC while his father served in WWII.  Bill grew up in Walpole, MA and graduated from Bridgeton Accademy and Lawrence University. Bill was a veteran of his country and served in the United States Army.

Prior to his retirement to Pinehurst, Bill managed investments on Wall Street.  Bill and his wife resided in Tewksbury Township, NJ for over 20 years. Bill was an active member of Ducks Unlimited while in NJ. He also was active in Field Trials and raised several championship English Pointers.

Bill loved to golf, ski, ride motorcycles and restore classic cars. Bill and his wife enjoyed RVing and visiting family in Montana. Always a dog lover, Bill adopted many dogs, giving them a loving home for the rest of their lives. Most recently, he enjoyed his volunteer work at Sycamore Lodge where he made the signs for the RV sites and various other painting projects. Bill was an devoted member of the Jones Springs United Methodist Church where he loved singing in the choir.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Harriet (Honey) Vickory of Pinehurst, daughter, Brooke Brannen and husband Art of Raleigh; son Lance Vickory,  wife Andrea and granddaughter Alanna of Helena, MT; nephew Harry Ulrich and wife Kathryn of Southern Pines, NC; a sister in law, Louise Vickory of Wrentham, MA and three nieces: Emily Fazzio and husband Mark of New Hampshire and Leslie and Stephanie Vickory.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Vickory and nephew, Gary Jr.

A memorial service will held at a later date.

Contributions in memory of Bill’s concern for animals may be made to an animal rescue organization or no kill shelter of your choice. Memorial contributions may also be made to FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Rd. Pinehurst, NC 28374.
