Cynthia Walker McDonald-Burton, 73 of Pinehurst, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. Cynthia was the wife of Louis L. Burton and was predeceased by her parents William H. and Olga Wickner Walker of Saratoga, CA.
Born in Los Angeles, CA, she attended San Jose State University and worked for many years as a senior executive assistant in the Silicon Valley.
Cynthia will be remembered as a loving wife and devoted mother. An avid cook who inspired her sons to learn their way around the kitchen, she looked forward most to sharing holiday meals with friends and family. She enjoyed playing bridge and participating in book clubs and the Garden Club. She loved her many opportunities to travel with her husband and family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, John L. McDonald, Jr., of Brooklyn, NY, and Jeffrey S. McDonald of Boston, MA.
A memorial service will be planned at a time and place to be determined.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Cynthia’s name to the Clara McLean House in Pinehurst, or to UNC’s University Cancer Research Fund.
