Debra Catherine Ashburn, 62 of West End, passed away on March 3, 2019 at her home.
Born on February 25, 1957 in Moore County, North Carolina to the late John N. and Mary McKinnon. Debra worked in retail for a number of years before deciding to get a nursing degree at the age of 30. She worked for over 29 years with FirstHealth as a nurse working in multiple departments in her career. She was an inspirational, strong-willed woman who loved her family dearly and her animals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Randy Gray Ashburn; one brother, William McKinnon and one sister, Linda McKinnon.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan Gray Ashburn (fiancé Kristen McNeill); two sisters, Martha Lunday (Dayton) and Pansy Butler (Harlon); sister-in-law, Martha McKinnon; granddaughter, Raegan Gray Ashburn; also survived by her furbabies, Dexter and Lovey and by several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 12:00-1:00PM at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines with services following at 1:00PM. Burial Bethesda Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
