George Willis Brodrick, 100, passed away peacefully at Hospice House, June 7, 2018. George was born, November 2, 1917, in Ft. Mead, Florida, to George L. Brodrick and Beulah “Becky” Brannon.

The family moved several times, settling in Baltimore, Maryland where he graduated from high school at 17 and enlisted in the Army. He was stationed in Panama, Hawaii, Korea and Japan. In Hawaii, he met the love of his life, Elma “Collie” Merle Collins, an Army nurse. They were married April 23, 1946. George retired from the Army in 1956, at Ft. Wayne in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated Wayne State University with a degree in Business Administration in 1961. After graduation he went to work as a management analyst, for the Army Tank Automotive Command, in Warren, Michigan. He retired as investigator for the Inspector General of ATAC.

He and “Collie” retired to Southern Pines, in 1984, making their home in Knollwood Village. George was a 34 year member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, a Mason, a lifetime Elk and a member of the VFW.

He was a wonderful story teller, terrific dancer, bowler and bridge player and avid golfer. Most importantly, he was a loving and supportive husband and father.

George was pre-deceased by his wife, “Collie”. He is survived by his son, Michael Collins Brodrick, daughter, Rebecca Brannon and husband Timothy Smith, daughter, Paula Kay and husband Michial See, grandchildren, Sian Kathleen Brodrick and Colin Noble Brodrick, and great-grandson, Nathaniel Jordan Brodrick.

Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Thursday, June 28, at 11 AM. Life celebration to follow at VFW Post 7318, 615 S. Page St., Southern Pines.
