Harriette H. Clark, 77, loving wife of Capt. H. Ward Clark, Jr. US Navy (Ret) and resident of Foxfire Village, passed away on May 18, 2018 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born on February 20, 1941 in Washington D.C. to the late Harry and Hazel Hanlein. Harriette grew up in Takoma Park, Maryland where she lived one block from her eventual husband, whom she always called Bo. She was educated at West Liberty University, Wheeling WV where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene.

Harriette lived the majority of her adult life as a devoted Navy Wife. She lived in numerous States including Hawaii, Rhode Island, California and Virginia. She traveled internationally in the Far East, South America and Europe. She was always very active supporting Navy charities and organizations.

Harriette devoted her life to her family. For her, being a devoted wife, loving and caring mother and grandmother were the highest possible callings. She loved her family completely and they loved her completely in return. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, three children, Kimberly Bowen of Apex, NC, Scott Clark of Portsmouth, VA and Brian Clark of Narragansett, RI; brother, Stuart Hanlein of Knoxville TN and sister, Susan Allder of Sterling, VA; also survived by three grandchildren, Kobie Clark of RI, Michael and Alex Bowen of NC.

A Chapel Service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
