Jackie “Jack” Eugene Dove, Sr., age 86, of Vass Woodlake, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia with Military Honors.

Jack was born in Roanoke, Virginia in October of 1932. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was also a combat veteran of the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He had a love for classic cars, golf, fishing and gospel singing but more importantly he loved Christ. Jack served as the chaplain for Moore County DAV Chapter 83 for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Anita Dove; children, Jackie Dove, Jr. (Marilyn) of Virginia, Libby Blanks (Ramsey) of Southern Pines, Jason Dove (Kathy) of Virginia, Lesley Newman Crabb of Pinehurst and Marcie Newman Fiske of Southport; he leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a very special grandson, Zachary Fiske.
