Josephine Rackley Richardson was born on March 24, 1924 in Lemon Springs, NC to Walter and Lizzie Rackley. She passed away on October 24, 2018 at FirstHealth Hospice House surrounded by family.

Ms. Jo attended Lemon Springs High School and was a practical nurse in Siler City, Salisbury, and Thomasville until she married MSgt. John Richardson on November 24, 1949. After she married, she was a devoted military wife and mother to their 4 children. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Seven Lakes South to be closer to family. Ms. Jo enjoyed sewing, cooking, spending time with her family, and was an active member of Victory Baptist Church in Carthage.

Ms. Jo is survived by her children: daughters Barbara (Ken) Bouldin of West End and Teri (Frank) Kissiah of Mt. Pleasant; son John (Pam) Richardson, II of Charleston, SC. She is also survived by 3 granddaughters: Stephanie (Robert) Barber, Lisa (Bradley) Whitaker, and Megan Kissiah and 1 grandson: Nicholas Czarnecki; 6 great grandsons: Layton Barber, Aemon Barber, Braxton Barber, Roston Barber, William Whitaker, and Andrew Whitaker; one brother: Eugene Rackley of Sanford, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Richardson and daughter, Cynthia Czarnecki; 3 brothers: Walter Ralph Rackley, Edward Rackley, and Thurman Rackley; and 3 sisters: Gladys Shields, Mae Snow, and Madeline Hall.

A service will be held on Sunday, October 28, at 2 pm at Victory Baptist Church in Carthage, NC with interment immediately following at Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford, NC.
