Lanny Scott Stancil, 47 of Pinehurst, passed on Monday, June 4, 2018 as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

A memorial service will be held 2pm Friday, June 8, 2018 at Christ Fellowship Church in Southern Pines with Rev. James Thyne officiating.  

Scott was born on August 22, 1970 in Pinehurst to Jackson Reid Stancil and Rose India (Black) Stancil. Scott was a 1988 graduate of Pinecrest High School. He began work at the age of 15 with Bill Smith Ford in Southern Pines doing odd and in jobs like cleaning cars and other duties.  Scott worked his way up at the dealership working in the service Department and later as a Service Manager.  He loved cars and motorcycles and collected several over the years.  He was a friend to everyone he met and could put a smile on anyone’s face.  He and several friends accepted Christ into their lives and became saved.

He is survived by his mother, Rose B. Stancil; Two sisters, Kim Young and Keyna Steele both of Pawley’s Island, SC; A brother, Reid Stancil of Kernersville, NC;  Nieces and nephews, Katherine Patterson, Kristina Patterson, Michael Steele and wife Helen, and Greg Stancil; Great nieces and nephews, Marcus, Justin, Karmen, Kinzie, and Harrison .

He was preceded in death by his father, Jackson Reid Stancil.
