Margaret “Peggy” Griffith Powley Stevens passed away on March 28, 2019, leaving her loving family and into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Peggy was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia on February 14, 1927 to the late Daniel C and Elsie M Coleman.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Alice, and husband, Bill Demastus, three
grandchildren, Lee Demastus and wife Vickie, Lisa Oyler and husband Peter, and Shannon Bowman. She leaves behind six great grandchildren, Jamie and Ashlee Demastus, Kevin and Michael Mulford, and Ben and Aidan Bowman as well as two step grandchildren, Micah and Caleb Oyler. She also leaves four great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were husbands John N. Powley and Denzil L. Stevens, brothers Clark Griffith and wife Daisy and Doyle Griffith and wife Rose, sisters Mabel Crites and husband Paul, Helen Dean and husband Wilbert, Nellie Davis and husband Monzel, Marie Sirk, Mary Shipley and husband Eugene, Anna Gosch, and Elda Jo Heflin and husband Stanley.

She was a member of Christ Church United Methodist in Clarksburg, West Virginia for sixty-three years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and was secretary for the Circle. She was active in many areas of the church.

Peggy moved to Pinehurst, North Carolina in 2007 to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She became a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church where she was welcomed and where she made many friends.

There will be a graveside service held Friday, April 5, 2019 at 1 pm at Floral Hills Memorial Garden in Mount Clare, West Virginia.
