Margaret Mary (Roegiers) Palumbo, “Marge”, left this world on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from her home in Seven Lakes, NC for her new home in heaven. Those who love her know that her favorite things in life were traveling in the car, shopping, playing BINGO and poker, and – most valued of all – her family. So it was fitting that she passed peacefully surrounded by all of her cherished family.

Marge is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerald M. Palumbo; her four children – Gerald Jr., Michael R. Palumbo (and wife Cathy), Valerie P. Gobeli (and husband Glenn), and Jeanine E. Palumbo; her four grandchildren – Jennifer P. Snyder (and husband Michael), Steven M. Palumbo (and wife Katie), Megan M. Mitchell (and husband Adam) and Ryan M. Palumbo; and her four great-grandchildren – Jordyn, Jacklyn and Addisyn Snyder and Kate Mitchell. Marge is also survived by her sister, Bernice Koedam and Bernice’s family.

Marge was born in Paterson, NJ, on September 23, 1937 to Bernard J. Roegiers, II and Edith A. Marino. She graduated from Central High School in Paterson, and went to work at the Prudential Insurance Company in Newark, NJ, where she met her future groom, Gerald (“Jerry”). The family lived in NJ until their move to Raleigh, NC in November 1977, and their ultimate relocation to Seven Lakes, NC in early 2016.

Marge will be remembered fondly for her fanaticism for playing BINGO and poker, and her constant proclamation that she “never wins” at them, though – to the contrary – she won our friendly games frequently. She will also be remembered for her Italian cooking, and the large vats of sausage or veal and peppers she frequently made for Sunday dinners, which everyone always devoured.

Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines will handle the funeral at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst, NC on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Visitation is at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral Mass is at 11:00 a.m.

Marge’s final resting place will be in St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Cemetery in Southern Pines, NC.

The immediate family will welcome friends and family to a celebration of Marge’s life at her daughter’s home nearby immediately following her burial.
