Marsha Lynn Carpenter, 66, of Aberdeen and formerly of Sanford, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 28, 2018, at home with her daughters at her side.

Marsha was born on November 20, 1952, at St. Joseph of the Pines Hospital in Southern Pines, NC, to John Henry Carpenter and Claudia Williams Carpenter. She graduated from Virginia’s Oak Hill Academy in 1970. Marsha grew up in Pinebluff, but lived her adult life in Sanford before returning to Moore County.

While raising her family, Marsha had a varied career which included being self-employed. Later she climbed the corporate ladder to become store manager for several national retail sales companies. She finished her career working for the security team of a major pharmaceutical company. Her proficiency and work ethic made her invaluable to each employer.

Marsha’s grandchildren brought her so much joy. She was a gifted listener. And, as a member of Ives Memorial Baptist Church in Pinebluff, she leaves behind many friends from the Senior Ladies Class. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and the father of her children, A. Steve Morgan.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Amy Lynn Morgan of the home and Wendy Morgan Goins of Sanford, siblings Stephen Carpenter (and Sandy) of Asheville, and Amy Jo Heath (and Dennis) of Stuttgart, Germany, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, uncle, aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews and their spouses.

A service honoring Marsha’s life will be held Sunday, January 6 at 2 PM at Ives Memorial Baptist Church, 365 E. Philadelphia Ave, Pinebluff, NC.  A private burial will follow in Pinebluff Cemetery. The family will receive guests at all other times at the home in Aberdeen, NC.

At her request, memorial contributions may be given in Marsha’s name to Diabetes Research Institute Foundation for a diabetes cure, www.diabetesresearch.org/Give.
