Nancy Marie Lancaster Crouch, 88, of Southern Pines formerly of Cameron passed away Sunday December 9, 2018 at Elmcroft of Southern Pines.

Marie was born on November 26, 1930 in Roanoke Rapids, NC the oldest of 12 children to the late Mathew Edward and Annie Elizabeth Poole Lancaster. When she was 6 years old the family moved to her grandfather’s farm in Brunswick County, NC. In 1945 they moved to Hoke County, NC where she met her husband Ernest Hoover Crouch and was married on November 10th, 1948.

During her husband’s Air Force career Marie was an active member of the Air Force Sergeants Association where she served as Division Coordinator Air Force Association Auxiliary from 1983 to 1985. She also was Outstanding Chapter Office Ladies Auxiliary AFSA from 1977-1979. Marie was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Southern Pines for many years.

She was predeceased by a son Larry Stevenson Crouch in 2016.

Surviving is her husband Ernest Hoover Crouch, son’s Jeff Crouch (Tracy) of Greensboro and Ronald Crouch of Cameron; daughters Carolyn Lipscomb (Bill) of West Virginia and Teresa Hartsell (Michael) of Pinehurst; brothers Harry Lancaster (Pat) of Aberdeen and Earl Lancaster (Dawn) of Delaware; sisters Jacqueline Goff of Acworth, GA, Jennette Adams (Jimmy) of Durham, Cornelia Brown of Carthage, Virginia Ross (Jerry) of Rougemont and Zilla Rebecca Lancaster of Roanoke Rapids; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Thursday December 13th at the First Baptist Church of Southern Pines with Dr. David Helms officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial to follow at Ashley Heights Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Marie’s name to the First Baptist Church, 200 East New York Ave., Southern Pines, NC 28387 or to First Health Hospice and Palliative Care, 150 Applecross Road, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
