Ralph Hunter Langdon, 94, of Southern Pines and formerly Charlotte, passed away at the Coventry at St. Joseph of the Pines on Wednesday July 18th.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Born in Coats, N.C. August 30, 1923, he was the son of the late Ralph Edward and Mary Stewart Langdon. After graduating from Maxton high school, Ralph entered the U.S. Navy. He served his country during WW II, from 1941 – 1947. Following an honorable discharge, Ralph attended UNC – Chapel Hill, where he earned his Bachelors’ Degree. In 1944, he married Janey Mafalda Milligan. He had worked for both General Electric and The American Red Cross before starting his career with Abbott Laboratories in 1959. Ralph was promoted to District Sales Manager in 1964, when he moved to Charlotte. In 1986 he moved to Woodlake before retiring from Abbott Laboratories in 1989. He and Mafalda moved in to Belle Meade, Southern Pines, in the late 1999, giving them the freedom to travel the world during their golden years.

In addition to his loving wife of 74 years of marriage, Mafalda Langdon, Ralph is survived by their sons: Richard Langdon, wife Tammy, Mark Langdon, wife Susanne, Steve Langdon, wife Lori and Greg Langdon. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great – grandchildren.
