Richard Leroy Morgan, age 91, of Lakeview, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Pineywood Baptist Church in Cameron with Pastor Brad Marona, Pastor Gregg Newton and Rev. Baxter Prevatte, Jr. officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home in Vass.

Richard was born in Moore County on August 4, 1926 to Roy Calvin and Maggie May Morgan. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a retired Tool & Die Maker at Pride Trimble in Southern Pines. He originally worked at the Coca Cola Plant in Aberdeen where he met his beautiful wife Vera while delivering Coca Colas. He enjoyed working in his shop and his yard. He was a former member of Pineywood Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was a faithful Christian, loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Vera Prevatte Morgan; children, Dale Morgan (Glenda)  of Sanford, Gail Clouse (Ron) of Monroe, NC, David Morgan of Lakeview, Lori Short (Glenn) of Carthage, sister, Bernice Rackley of Virginia; brother, Jesse Morgan (Vicky) of Lakeview; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Calvin and  Maggie May Morgan; sister, Frances Ring; brothers, Calvin Morgan, James Morgan and Harvey Morgan.
