Robert (Bob) DeSandy, 93 of Aberdeen, died on Saturday, October 27, 2018.
Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan, August 2, 1925 to Joseph and Frances DeSandy. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gil DeSandy and his wife, Sally.
Services at the Village Chapel in Pinehurst on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 1:30PM.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Florence DeSandy; daughter, Nancy Larson and husband David of Chattanooga, TN; three grandchildren, Sara Buscaglia (Tommy), Brooke Larson (Shaun) and Carin Corey (Clark); also survived by 8 great grandchildren, nephew, Greg (Sue) and niece, Jill.
Bob retired from Mutual of Detroit Insurance Company in Plymouth, MI with 40 years of Service, retiring as Vice President. He was a World War II veteran and served in the 9th Infantry Division, 47th Regiment European Theater. He served as National President of the 9th Division National Association. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Golf Club, The Kiwanis Club of the Pines, the Sandhills Garden Society and the American Legion, all of which he had been very active in. He was a volunteer for many organizations and golf tournaments.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Village Chapel, Samaritans Purse or a charity of your choice.
Burial at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
