Sandra Anne Presson passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Sandra was born January 7, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia. She spent her childhood years in Stanley, North Carolina where she graduated from Stanley High School and later from Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte where she also served as lead obstetrics nurse.

Sandra married Ikie Neal Presson in 1958. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in December. Together they shared a life full of love and laughs while raising five children in Raleigh.  Sandra enjoyed playing golf, sewing, raising her children and nurturing other neighborhood children. After the children were raised, Sandra and Ike retired to Pinehurst where she enjoyed more golf, volunteering with the Toymakers of Moore Regional Hospital and the Needlers group. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals.

Sandra is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years Ike; her children Anne Presson Pope and husband Wes of Chapel Hill; Neal Presson of Greenville, SC; Jamey Presson and partner Phil Bullington of Greensboro; Joe Presson and wife Kelly of New Bern, and Kathryne Presson of Charlottesville, VA. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Tyler, Michael and Carson Presson; Caroline and Laura Pope; sister Concetta Caliendo and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents James and Kathryne Caliendo and brother Jim Caliendo. 

A Noon graveside service is planned at Emmanuel Cemetery in Indian Trail, NC (near the intersection of Indian Trail Fairview Rd & Brent Haigler Rd off of Highway 218) on Saturday, October 13 with a reception to follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Legacy Campus (420 Hopewell Baptist Church Rd Monroe, NC).  A separate reception will also be held on Sunday, October 14 from 2-4PM at Community Presbyterian Church in Pinehurst.
