William Cooper Ellington, 18 years old, passed on to his Heavenly home on Sunday morning, July 29th, 2018.
Cooper was a star athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball. However, Cooper endured a very rare condition known as Von Hippel Landau Syndrome.
VHL is a disorder characterized by the formation of tumors and cysts in many different parts of the body. In 2011, Cooper had a tumor wrapped around his brain stem, which left him in a coma and later physically challenged.
As Cooper continued to recover from his condition, he had a huge zest for life and a love for Jesus Christ. Cooper, along with his Mom and Dad traveled from state to state opening for such gospel bands as the Whisnants, the Rochesters and others, singing and giving their testimony. Cooper, Stephanie and Reid, created their own ministry –Cooper’s Outreach Foundation.
Cooper and his Mom and Dad are well known for spreading the love of Jesus Christ, not just on tour, but throughout the communities they visited as well. Cooper had a very well-known motto – “You pray for me; I’ll pray for you.”
Cooper is survived by his father and mother, Reid and Stephanie Ellington of Whispering Pines, NC. Cooper is also survived by loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be held at Boles Funeral Home on Pennsylvania Avenue in Southern Pines on Tuesday, July 31st from 6pm – 8pm.
Funeral services will be held at Pinecrest High School Auditorium in Pinehurst at 11am on Wednesday, August 1st. The Whisnants and the Rochesters will be singing at the service.
Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 2237 Camp Easter Road in Southern Pines following the service.
