Helene Day Rubin, 64 of Pinehurst, passed away on February 22, 2018 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Born on May 4, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan to Jane Day Shilts and the late Perry Theodore Shilts.
Helene graduated with an English Literature Degree from Oakland University. She enjoyed gardening and was a talented musician. She played both the piano and string instruments. Helene was a gifted artist that not only included her music but floral design, painting and her talent for art poured out in everything she touched. She loved all animals and will be remembered by her family for her selfless, gentle soul and her giving to others.
She is survived by her mother, Jane Day Shilts of Pinehurst; one sister, Leslie Vang of Columbia, SC and two nephews, Eric and Jonathan Vang.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 3:00-4:00 pm at her home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Moore County Humane Society PO Box 203 Southern Pines, NC 28388.
