Lorene May Hurley Duever, 69, of West End, NC; passed on January 20, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 25 at Chapel in the Pines, 581 Seven Lakes North, West End, NC with the Rev. Eugene Ussery officiating.  Inturnment will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 11 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 1105 Morganton Rd, Southern Pines, NC.

Lorene was born January 22, 1948 in Upper Marlboro, MD to the late Robert Edward Hurley and Christabel Coale Hurley.  She was employed for many years in the secretarial and business administration field.  She was a talented writer and poet and enjoyed antiques and home design and decor.  Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family, as she was a natural caregiver and nurturer.

Lorene is survived by her husband and best friend of 44 years, Keith Duever, as well as three children; Lisa Bergen Lundy, Joseph Robert “Rob” Bergen and Heather Duever Newton and son-in-law Bobby Newton; grandchildren, Kyla Lorene Lundy, McKenna Nicole Newton and Ryleigh Anne Newton.  Also survived by a sister, Patricia Cosimano, niece Cynthia Daugherty, aunt Jacqueline Greer, cousins Barbara Lannom and husband Charles, Janet Bishop, Vera Fontana, Gail Adkins and husband Jim, Jackie Smith and husband Ronnie and Joyce Fontana, John Coale and William Coale.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Christabel Hurley.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25 from 5 -7 p.m. at Chapel in the Pines, West End, NC with the memorial service following.
