Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Maynard, 41 of Southern Pines died Sunday.

Beth received her BA degree from UNC Pembroke and her Master’s from the University of South Carolina in Social Work. She loved her friends, family and her animals as well as deep sea fishing and the beach.

She was predeceased by her stepfather Ronald C. Faulk (Daddy Ronald), grandparents Thomas and Virginia Moody as well as Agnes and Gene Smith, uncle Michael Cooney.

Beth is survived by her daughter Madison Elizabeth Coston of Wilmington, mother Norma Moody Faulk of Southern Pines, significant other Patrick O’Malley, father Thomas R. Cooney, Sr. of Hillsborough, brothers Thomas R. Cooney, Jr. of Southern Pines, Matthew Cooney of Greensboro, Chet Faulk (Crissy) of Belmont, sister Austin Faulk of Charlotte, aunts Patricia Butt (Bob) of Oak Island, Nancy Lindley (Darryle) of Snow Camp, uncle Dan Cooney (Barbara) of Knoxville, TN, and many cousins, family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Beth’s life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, Hwy 421 in Chatham County. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church activity room.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the College Savings Account for Madison Coston, c/o First National Bank, 185 W. Morganton Road, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
