Nora Lee Thomas Grissom 90, died peacefully Sunday, November 19 at Westfield Rehabilitation and Health Center in Sanford N.C.

Mrs. Grissom was preceded in death by her husband, James; sister Althea T. Boggs; parents, Malley and Irene Thomas; brother, M.G. Thomas.

Mrs. Grissom grew up in Lee County and retired from J.P.Stevens in Aberdeen after 33 years of employment.

Her greatest joys in life were times spent with her family. She was a wonderful country cook and baker.Her faith and church were vital in her life. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Her personal ministry was baking pound cakes for the sick and shut-in in Vass and surrounding areas.

With a heart of gold, one of her favorite expressions at family gatherings was “Thank the Lord we are back together again.”

Survivors include son Reverend David R. Grissom and wife, Sue of Creedmoor, son Paul W. Grissom and wife, Evelyn of New Palestine, Indiana, sisters Ethelyne Stone of Sanford and Bernice Roop of Christiansburg Virginia, sister-in-law, Bernice Price of Carthage, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and close friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 25 at 11 a.m. at Vass United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Barry Barbour and Reverend David Beck. Burial will follow in Johnson Grove Cemetery.

The Grissom Family will receive friends Friday evening, November 24, from 6-8 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines, N.C.
