One person was airlifted after a traffic accident Sunday in Aberdeen. The accident occurred at the intersection of Hwy 211 and Pee Dee Road at 10:45 a.m.

The driver of a Smart Car was transported by EMS to a waiting UNC helicopter at the Aberdeen Fire Department substation on Hwy 211. An occupant of the other vehicle, a Toyota Camry, was being treated by EMS for non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic was rerouted around the area while emergency crews worked.

Aberdeen Police will be investigating the cause of the accident.

Responding to the scene were Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Aberdeen Police.
