One person is in critical condition after an accident on 15-501 in front of Cook-Out Saturday evening. The two car accident ended with a pick-up truck crashing into the Verizon Store. The Ford F250  slammed into a blue Ford Focus just prior to crashing into the store.

The driver of the Ford Focus had serious injuries, and EMS crews on the scene called for a life-flight  helicopter. The helicopter was unable to fly due to weather. The male driver of the Focus was then transported to Moore Regional Hospital and is said to have life-threatening injuries. The Ford Focus had extensive damage to the passenger side and front of the vehicle.

The driver of the Ford truck and his passenger, a small child, appeared to be uninjured when crews arrived, but the male driver of the truck was later transported with what is believe to be minor injuries.  No one in the Verizon store was injured.

Both lanes of south bound traffic were shut down while crews worked. Southern Pines Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Aberdeen Police Department, and Southern Pines Police Department.
