A person was airlifted to an area trauma center after a residential fire in West End Tuesday morning.

The blaze broke out just before 10 a.m at a home in the 200 block on Archie Road, near the entrance to West Pine Elementary School.

Carolina Air Care helicopter landed at the West Pine Middle School ball field to transport the victim to UNC Hospitals. The victim is reportedly in stable condition.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the residential fire on Archie Road in West End ~Sandhills Sentinel.

Damage to the house was extensive, and the fire marshal was on scene investigating the cause of the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family.

Assisting at the scene were West End Fire & Rescue, Seven Lakes Fire Department, Eastwood Fire Department, Eagle Springs Fire Department, Pinehurst Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Public Safety, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the American Red Cross.
