Play resumed at the 119th U.S. Amateur Wednesday morning in the Village of Pinehurst to complete Tuesday’s second round of stroke play that was suspended due to darkness.

A threat of severe weather stopped play during the afternoon for 90 minutes. When play resumed, there was not enough daylight for all the groups still on the course to finish.

Travis Vick form Huston, Texas, is tied for 18th place at the U.S. Amateur and will make it to the Match Play round of 64 starting tomorrow. Travis is very familiar with Pinehurst tournament golf having made it to the Quarterfinals of this year’s North & South Amateur Championship.

With the completion of the round Wednesday morning, a playoff on Pinehurst No. 4 will likely follow to cut the field of 312 competitors to started the tournament on Monday to only 64. Once the field is set, the first round of Match Play will be held on Pinehurst No. 2.

Brandon Wu was the leader as play finished yesterday and is the presumptive Medalist, the honor of shooting the lowest two day combined score, 3 shots under par. Jacob Solomon began his second round on the first tee of Pinehurst No. 2 Tuesday morning. He shot just one over par for the day, ending up with a total score of 138. That was good enough to earn the 2nd seed in Match Play behind Brandon Wu.

Match play will continue for the rest of the week until the field is down to just two players for the 36-hole Championship on Sunday, contested for the first time ever on two different course – Pinehurst No. 4 in the morning and Pinehurst No. 4 the afternoon.
