Congressman, Richard Hudson, recently toured the Southern Pines Brewing Company and the Heritage Flag Company in Southern Pines.  Hudson was there to learn more about their operations and discuss the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

“Because of their passion and hard work, these small businesses already make a huge impact on our economy,” said Hudson. “The Heritage Flag Company is doing tremendous things in our community and puts new meaning behind American made.”

With the tax savings, Southern Pines Brewing Company will be purchasing equipment which will enable them to buy and store bulk grain and, in turn, significantly decrease their price per pound.

“Best of all, they will see and use those savings immediately – they plan to raise wages in key areas of the brewery,” said Hudson.

Southern Pines Brewing brewed its first batch of beer on June 23rd, 2014, sold its first keg on July 17th, 2014, and opened doors on October 18th of 2014.  Heritage Flag Company  makes American flags from whiskey barrels, and at the time the company opened, they were the first ones making the flags.
