A Moore County Schools counselor was arrested for bringing a gun onto school property Thursday.

As a result, Stephanie Davis, 40, a Southern Middle School counselor, was fired from her position.

Students were sent home with a letter explaining to parents and caregivers that Davis is no longer employed at the school.

Davis is charged with bringing a gun onto educational property,  possession of controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia, according to arrest records.

Davis was taken to the Moore County Detention Center and placed under a $30,000 bond.
