Moore County Sheriff’s Department released their December 2017 Monthly Report.

During the month of December, Patrol Deputies averaged eight minutes and fourteen seconds while responding to 3,190 calls for service. They served 238 civil and 105 criminal papers which included nine Domestic Violence orders, made 71 arrests, conducted 1,219 business checks and transported four mental patients.

Deputies issued 131 traffic citations: eight citations for driving with a revoked license, one for DWI and 46 for speeding in excess of 15 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.

The department’s Volunteers contributed 210 hours during the month of December.

Sheriff’s Response Team conducted 14 traffic stops and three Checking Stations resulting in 16 citations. They conducted 32 Sex Offender checks and executed three Search Warrants.

Animal Services admitted 57 dogs and 45 cats, returned 10 animals to their owners, facilitated the adoption of 50 dogs and 40 cats and conducted 23 field and 58 shelter rabies vaccinations. Deputies investigated 14 animal bites and responded to 253 stray-animal calls.

Criminal Investigators arrested 18 suspects totaling 23 felony and 25 misdemeanor charges, opened 59 investigations and recovered $43,814 in stolen property. Arrests included: two for Assault by Strangulation, 16 for Breaking and Entering/Larceny, five for Fraud, 20 for Child Abuse and five on misdemeanor charges.

The Narcotics Division opened 21 investigations and arrested 26 suspects on a total of 98 drug and alcohol violations; one suspect was arrested for doctor shopping/prescription fraud.

Narcotic Deputies seized: 285 grams of Marijuana, six dosage units of prescription pills, 76 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of Crack Cocaine, eight grams of Methamphetamine, 12 bindles of Heroin, 32 units of LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide) and two firearms; the estimated street value of all drugs seized was approximately $23,980.

Additionally, deputies conducted two Search Warrants, 103 ABC store security checks, inspected two ABC premise-outlets and visited 99 additional ABC premise-outlets.

The Sheriff’s Office registered four new Sex Offenders, updated the status of 27 Offenders and is monitoring a total of 128 Moore County registered Sex Offenders.

In December, they issued 263 pistol purchase permits, 57 new conceal-to-carry permits and renewed 68; totaling 7,745 Moore County citizens with conceal-to-carry permits.
