Sheriff warns scam targeting residents

Moore County Sheriff’s Office released their monthly report.

During the month of October, patrol deputies averaged eleven minutes and thirty seven seconds while responding to 3670 calls for service. They served 366 civil and 187 criminal papers which included 29 domestic violence orders, made 93 arrests, conducted 1687 business checks and transported 5 mental patients. Deputies issued 81 traffic citations: six citations for driving with a revoked license, two for DWI, and twenty five for speeding in excess of 15 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.

Volunteers contributed 52 hours during the month of October.

Criminal Investigators arrested 92 suspects totaling 120 Felony and 25 misdemeanor charges, opened 105 investigations and recovered $262,077.93 in stolen property. Arrests included: one for Kidnapping, one for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, 30 for Larceny by an Employee, eight for Breaking and Entering/Larceny, 30 for Fraud, three for Firearm Violations, one for Littering, three on Felony Drug Violations, three for Statutory Rape and 13 on misdemeanor charges.

The Narcotics Division opened 16 investigations, executed three Probation Searches and arrested 12 suspects on a total of 35 Drug and Alcohol violations. Narcotic Deputies seized: 15 grams of Marijuana, six grams of Cocaine, 487 grams of Methamphetamine, 71 assorted pills, one Bindle of Heroin, four Firearms and $1401.00 in US Currency; the estimated street value of all drugs seized was approximately $60,440.

Additionally, deputies conducted 94 ABC store security checks, inspected six ABC premise-outlets and visited 106 additional ABC premise outlets.

The Sheriff’s Office registered two new Sex Offenders, transferred out five offenders, updated the status of 32 Sex Offenders and is monitoring a total of 128 Moore County Registered Sex Offenders.

In October, they issued 157 pistol purchase permits, issued 54 new conceal-to-carry permits and renewed 72; totaling 8,054 Moore County citizens with conceal-to-carry permits.
