The Sunrise Theater’s all-original series, now in its third installment, welcomes back host Becca Rae, and boasts a powerhouse lineup of fellow songwriters from the Sandhills. This intimate showcase is presented in Nashville’s famous “in-the-round” style, with all four artists on stage together, each taking turns playing one song at a time. The songwriters will not only perform their original material, but also share with the audience the stories behind the music- explaining how each song was inspired.

Featured artists will be Becca Rae, Tony Barnes, Earleine, and Bill West. Each of these rising stars has carved out their own niche in the local music scene, and developed their own fan base and following. Becca Rae is a mainstream country music artist, best known for her stop-and-stare vocals and emotionally charged lyrics. Before moving to Southern Pines five years ago, Becca Rae had already released two original albums, opened in concert for country music legends like Loretta Lynn and Montgomery Gentry, and appeared on national television. Her passion for songwriting and her desire to promote local artists led to the creation of the “Singer-Songwriters in the Round” series.

Tony Barnes, a native of West End, North Carolina, has become one of the most celebrated and beloved musicians in the Pines. His country-rock sound and down-to-earth personality have earned him a place in the hearts of fans across the state and beyond. His rigorous performance schedule includes weekly events and venues all over the East Coast. Tony was co-founder, original guitarist, and co-writer for the band “McKenzie’s Mill”, and has been touring and performing for the last nine years.

Earleine, a self-taught guitar player and songwriter, was born and raised in Clarksville, Tennessee. She made her way to the Sandhills for work, and quickly fell in love with the Carolinas. She joined the popular acoustic duo “Whiskey Pines” at age 23, before breaking out on her own to pursue a successful solo career. She describes her songwriting style as “a swirl of folk, rock, blues, and roots under a blanket of soul.”

Bill West, originally from Aberdeen, has performed over 1,700 shows in nine different states and two different countries. He began his full-time music career twelve years ago, and he continues to delight audiences and garner rave reviews with his smooth vocals and nostalgic melodies. Bill was even featured on FOX’s “The Next Great American Band” television show in 2007. He will be bringing his original brand of acoustic pop-rock to the Sunrise Theater’s historic stage for the very first time.

The show will be held on Saturday, September 16th at 7:30 pm. There will be a 15-minute intermission between sets. Tickets for the show are $14 and can be purchased online at www.sunrisetheater.com or by calling the theater office at 910-692-3611. Tickets can also be purchased in person during movie time at the concessions or in the theater office at 244 NW Broad St. Southern Pines.
