Union Pines and New Century student athletes recently showcased their lacrosse skills at the Promoting Youth Lacrosse event hosted by Sandhills Lacrosse Association.

The student athletes helped introduce the game of lacrosse to young men and women in Carthage.

“The athletes learned about supporting the community, promoting physical activities, time management, and leadership,” said Sandhills Warriors Coach Carlson Chow.

After the introduction, Sandhills Warriors Lacrosse Club donned their gear and provided a demonstration.

The club has players from eighth through 12th grade, and they come from all over Moore County. Players must reside in Moore County and not attend a school that already has a lacrosse team. SLA welcomes home schooled students, and they accept new players throughout the season.

“The Sandhills Lacrosse Association is a community-based tax exempt non-profit charitable organization that aspires to grow youth, high school, collegiate, and adult lacrosse programs in the Sandhills/greater Moore County, NC area whose athletes are recognized for their scholarship, service, leadership, and achievements in the community, in the classroom, and on the field of competition,” said the association’s website.
